Roger Federer Wins 10th Halle Title, Heads Into Wimbledon On Winning Note

Roger Federer will head into Wimbledon on a winning note.

The 37-year-old Swiss champion won his 10th title at Halle in Germany by taking down Belgium’s David Goffin, 7-6(2), 6-1, in Sunday’s final.

Federer, ranked No. 3 in the world, has now won 102 career titles — seven short of Jimmy Connors’ all-time men’s mark of 109 — with 19 of those coming on grass.

Eight of those 19 have come at Wimbledon, which Federer most recently won in 2017.

In the first game of the second set, Goffin double-faulted and threw his racket after giving up the break to fall behind 1-0.

Federer broke Goffin again for a commanding 4-1 lead.

Federer then won the match when Goffin hit a forehand volley wide on match point.
